All the truth about Deutschland.
Germany is great country. Nobody would disapprove it from fear of starting a new world war. I'm not saying it by provocation, not either because they're sometimes a little bit - how could I say without being mean... - different. But, mostly because I sincerely believe this small country has great capacities and unfortunately, is not giving us the best.
Hum.... Ok, I should stop now with this bullscheiße or all my friends from Germany are gonna start to hate me and send me some WurstBomb. :) Of course, I don't believe one word of what I just said. I was just trying to improve the German sense of humor ! (Who said it was a waste of time?! - Just kidding... - Or not... - Or yes... (Who said I was annoying ? (Ahah and you don't like nested parenthesis ? (Ok Last one.))))
These people are full of surprise and capable of giving of their best or their worst. For instance, the German beer is one of the best in the world, if not the best. Anyone who knows any Keller Bier would agree on that. But, unfortunately, they did - who knows why - the RauchBier. Why would anyone want to drink some liquid bacon or smoked ham/fish juice ?
And it's the same for the sausages ! Having 10 Bratwürste mit Sauerkraut on the main platz of Nürnberg on a Friday night is definitely a great experience everyone should try once in a life. But (I know I take some big risks attacking one of the favorite German dish) : what about Currywurst ? Ok it's not as disgusting as the previous bier could be, but I don't think that trying to challenge Indian chefs using their spices was the best that Germany could do ! It's just a simple Frankfurt sausage with some curry powder on it. Come on, German people can do better than that ! Just forget this last one, and stick to the Schäufele (by the way, it's not physically possible for me to pronounce this word) or the Schnitzel !
Let's keep going with local German facts ! Here in Bavaria (Bayern), they have an other way of saying what time it is. Ok. From now, you have to focus to get it. The time is not the same if the minutes are placed before or after the hours. Let me give you an example, if I say "30 8", it doesn't mean 8.30 but it actually means 7.30. Now I see you coming, "Pff it's like in English, half past 8 and half to 8!". And no, because it's getting more complicated with the quarters, if I say "1 quarter 8", it actually means 7.15 and not 7.45, like in English. To get 7.45, you have to say either "1 quarter vor 8" or "3 quarters 8" (Yes it's not the same if you add "vor" = "before"). So, if your new employer tells you something containing the words "3 quarters" and "nine" (yes, as you're new, you can't speak German and didn't get what he said), but you're not sure about the order, you'd better be there at 8.15 to be safe ! In the worst case, you'll have to wait 1h30 until 9.45.
And also, all these little things that makes the German culture so special : knocking on the table instead of applauding, giving back the glass bottles to the supermarket, paying less for a beer than water (true story), ...
I could keep on doing that, and I'm sure German could do the same for France or every country in the world. That's what is interesting in the world, why people have to travel around : to learn new cultures, discover new lifestyles and weird habits. Don't let the world becoming boring by spreading a single culture and be proud of your own special one !
